Virgin International is engaging in a campaign to become more involved in sporting travel UK. For example, the first ever Virgin International Golf tournament was held in the UK this year and attracted teams from Europe, China, South Africa, the USA and Japan. The 36 hole team championship took place at the London Club, which is located near Brands Hatch racing circuit.
Ireland took an early lead in the competition, gaining 102 Stableford points. All of the teams stayed at the prestigious Royal Garden Hotel Kensington in London. The second day of the tournament took place at the Stoke Park golf course, which is close to Stoke Poges, and all teams enjoyed a masterclass by Ross McFarlane before going out to compete. Virgin has been working on the golf tournament concept for some time as part of their efforts in working with the grass roots of sports.
